Vegan fashion. This statement used to be as contradictory as a hot winter day or a focused toddler. Well, currently it is 60 degrees in January and one of my kids has been fixated on trying to put his right shoe on his left foot for the last 20 minutes, so times they are a-changing. Options for those of us who prefer alternatives to animal products have expanded from when canvas shoes or stiff synthetics were the only products available. Textiles have evolved, color choices have expanded from basic black and brown, and designers are adding on-trend items into their synthetic collections. So where does that fit into the everyday lifestyle? Well, for me as a mom of two-year old twin boys, I am constantly running late for something. After making sure my kids are dressed and ready to go, I am usually desperate for anything to throw over what I’ve dug out of the laundry basket that will make me look and feel even slightly “put together.” Enter; the “Veather” jacket; vegan leather creations so soft and pliable that it can trick even the trained eye. Finding that perfect finishing touch has never been easier or more chic. Going into spring, here are a few of my faves and how to wear them.

Making Me Blush

This beautiful faux-suede jacket can be found here:

Pieces like this blush jacket are traditional in their fit, but their feminine colors are just enough of a contradiction to ramp up your typical Friday date night or even a last minute trip to Costco. Stores like Abercrombie & Fitch has evolved over the years to include comfortable, casual and easy to wear staples for a variety of clientele. If you haven’t shopped there in the last decade give it a look in this one, because it is definitely NOT just for teenagers or size 00’s anymore.

Creamy and Dreamy

Find this gorgeous vegan moto jacket here:

Nordstrom has always been a front-runner when it comes to expanding their product lines to reach different markets. This beautifully tailored jacket is under $100 and is the perfect great year-round option. Creamy tan will add warmth to basic black and fall hues but can also tone down bright colors when the springtime hits. This rich tan jacket is a must-have for any wardrobe.

Who Said Anything About Basic?

Soft and unstructured, this vegan leather jacket is anything but basic. Click here to find it online:

Not digging the softer hues and structured look? For a more relaxed feel and traditional color, this jacket is as easy to wear as your favorite hoodie and a thousand times more chic. Also at Nordstrom, you will find this soft faux-leather jacket with “suede” details on the collar, adding interest and texture to any outfit.

If you still need some more inspiration, here are some examples of how I have transformed outfits just by throwing on this lightweight perforated vegan jacket from ASTR.

This is my dress-up going out of the house look. Typically at my house, a t-shirt usually pairs with leggings. Sometimes I have a fancier shirt, but this is pretty standard. Pretty nondescript and boring, right?!
Voila! This lightweight piece adds that touch of sophistication and a layer of warmth on those days where you just aren’t sure how to adult.
I just love the way this jacket adds a layer of “cool” to this playful dress. Whether you are off to a wedding or out to dinner, throw this guy over your outfit and it’s a win.
Whether going to brunch on a Sunday, a kids birthday party, or going to a concert, this jacket can pair with a simple dress and offers that additional outerwear layer. Add sneakers to dress it down or open-toed booties for a laid-back cool vibe.

So come on ladies and give the “Veather” jacket a go. You won’t regret it!
